I am Yoshida J. Kirkwood, PA-C a Physician Assistant of twenty years who turned my passion into my purpose. After a sudden job loss, I looked inward to find my gifts and emerged as a wellness and life coach to help arm women with the knowledge to change their lives for the better. From weight loss to life after a devastating loss to living out your vision, I am committed to helping you get back to living and realize your dreams. "Every woman deserves to live her best life."
MY WHY: Women carry the weight of the world on their shoulders, their backs, their entire body. Women go the extra mile even when no one else will. Women obsess over what they look like even if no one says "You look great." Women spend more time thinking about their children than they do about themselves. Women are strong, emotional, loyal, and nurturing. And that's the problem. Women forget to focus on themselves. To build themselves up when they are torn down. To grant themselves grace when they miss the mark. To start doing the hard work to look and feel healthy instead of going for a quick fix. Don't get me wrong, I love a quick fix- for my nails, or my hair- not my physical, mental, or spiritual health.
We all have something we can work on. Let's work together to help you reach your health and wellness goals! Do you need a selfcare plan that goes beyond the basics? Do you want to finally get off some of the medication that you are taking? Are you struggling to enjoy life to the fullest? Do you stop sitting on the sidelines and actually get in the game of life? Then you are ready for a transformation! That's what AVOW Health and Wellness is all about. Giving you the tools, the plan, the information so that you can make the best informed decision about your life and DO BETTER EVERY DAY!
Here at AVOW Health and Wellness, we don't just focus on your outer beauty, we strive for you to have total wellness- physically, mentally and spiritually. I am committed to providing you the best possible resources and tools necessary to elevate your life, your mood, and your mind.
My Education: My interest in math and science led me to pursue and achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in College Station. After a short stint working as a chemist, I knew something was missing and wanted to work in medicine helping people get healthier. A few years later, I entered the Allied Health program at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies . I went on to work in various fields of medicine including family medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pain management, gynecology, and cardiology. That's the beauty of being a Physician Assistant- there are so many opportunities to learn and grow while helping patients get well and back to living their best lives. After twenty years of practicing medicine, I was forced to leave the clinic setting when the employer closed our clinics nationwide. Instead of going to the next job, I took some time to focus on me. What did I really want to do? I spent months finding myself again. What a concept! And I learned that I wasn't living my best life! I was overworked, overwhelmed, and out of alignment with what I truly believe I was meant to do- help women break the cycle of living less than what God has planned.
Our Mission at AVOW:
We exist to encourage, inspire and motivate women to stop putting their happiness and wellness on hold. Women who have experienced a challenging time in their life and can't seem to turn it around. You may be down, feeling low, and left behind but this is not the end for you!
